Capital Campaign Surpasses Goal — Raising Over $ 81M

For the last five years , Williamson College of the Trades has been working toward the goal of raising $ 60 million as part of a comprehensive capital campaign , “ Building for the Future .”
Across the United States , the need for tradesmen — quality individuals with the skills and character to move our country forward — is growing . The administration and the board of trustees knew that Williamson is a prime place to prepare future generations of young students for a career in the trades , but it would require hard work and expanded partnerships with supporters to set the stage for future growth .
“ Williamson needed to reach a new plateau in our annual operating support , endowment funding , and capital infrastructure to support our strategic vision and plan for the future ,” stated trustee Michael T . Piotrowicz , Building for the Future campaign chairman and board of trustees ’ Advancement Committee chairman . “ The Building for the Future comprehensive capital campaign provided the plan to make this next step for the college a reality .”
As of this spring , Williamson is proud to announce our Building for the Future comprehensive capital campaign has been completed . Furthermore , the college exceeded our goal of $ 60 million , raising more than $ 81 million thanks to significant gifts from our donors . The campaign has enabled Williamson to expand our dining facilities , upgrade current student dormitories , and improve capital and technology in the Continued on page 10
The Wesley Student Center will be completed in time for the 2023-24 school year , providing students with a multitude of recreational opportunities . It is being built through the generosity of Joseph and Marion Wesley .

Home Depot Cofounder To Speak At 128th Commencement

Kenneth G . Langone , a financier , investor , and philanthropist who is best known as the cofounder of Home Depot , will deliver the keynote address at the 128th Commencement , at 1 p . m ., Friday , June 4 , on the Betty and Russ Harvey 5W0 Athletic Field .
Attendance is limited to only two guests per senior ; others can watch the event on livestream by going to Williamson ’ s website .
Langone will inspire the Class of 2021 as they receive associate in specialized technology degrees and are sent into the world of work .
In 1978 , Langone became cofounder
of Home Depot with his determination , willpower , and persuasive personality . Today , Home Depot is one of the most admired and respected companies in the United States .
He began his career in the early 1960s at R . W . Pressprich , a Wall Street financial services company , where he developed new business , and in 1969 was named president . He first made a name for himself when he made Ross Perot Sr .’ s Electronic Data Systems public in 1968 .
Today , he is founder and CEO of Invemed Associates LLC ; independent director at Unifi , Inc .; chairman at New
York University Langone Medical Center ; chairman at Salem Holding Co .; cochairman at New York University Hospitals Center ; and vice chairman-board development at the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation .

Founder ’ s Day , a day to honor Isaiah V . Williamson and his legacy , featured a keynote address by Dr . Arthur J . Lallo 7W9 , vice chairman of the board of trustees , the bestowing of the board ’ s C . W . Schrenk 4W9 Young Alumnus Award , and an announcement about the board ’ s Isaiah V . Williamson Award .
