Class Of ’17 Enters World Of Work
With Inspiring Words From Nevels
Continued from page 1
He also thanked the class for their gift
to the school of the new entrance sign
along Middletown Road.
In his remarks, senior class president
Michael Schneider, said “I already miss
this place. The bond between us stu-
dents is what I miss the most. The Wil-
liamson bond is a very special thing.”
He then closed saying, “How many
of us have debt — zero. How many of
us have jobs — all of us. Life is good.”
Schneider then passed the senior gavel
to Raymond Drulik, president of the
Class of 2018.
Next, awards were presented by Sam-
uel Wrightson, Ed.D., vice president of
education, and William Bonenberger,
board chairman, followed by the con-
ferring of d iplomas and degrees by
Rounds and Wrightson.
As the 72 graduates exited the com-
mencement tent on the school’s front
lawn, each rang the Commencement
Bell one time, indicating they are now
alumni.
Michael Schneider, president of the Class of 1W7, leads the way as the
class leaves the commencement tent after having received their diplomas
and heads to the Commencement Bell. Each graduate rang the bell one time,
indicating he has now graduated from Williamson and is an alumnus. They
were then congratulated by the board of trustees and then family and friends.
Class Of ’17 Finds They Are
Sought After By Employers
The job searches of the Class of 1W7
went very, very well with 99 percent
finding employment, according to Mar-
garet “Weemie” Kingham, director of
placement.
“Many of our students started their
careers in an ideal position — with their
first choice. It doesn’t always work that
way, so they were fortunate. It was a
very strong year for all the trades.”
Kingham said the employment pros-
pects were good because the economy is
improving and because of Williamson’s
reputation for producing outstanding
tradesmen with the proper values.
She added that the biannual Career
Fairs help tremendously in the job
search of the students and it helps that
so many alumni return to represent
their companies.
She said most of the graduates stayed
close to home and went with large com-
panies, such as Exelon, Hensel-Phelps,
Whiting Turner, and Johnson Controls.
