Alumni Weekend
Alumni Day 2017 attracted a large crowd with events for all ages. After the President’ s Breakfast, the opening event, the day included the Watson Dorm dedication( see article on page 1), Classic Car Show, Chapel, De La Salle Orchestra, sand sculpting with horticulture instructor Chuck Feld, Archive display, President Rounds’ State of the
School address, and music by Dig Down Deep, the band of Gregg Trexler 7W8 and Perry Greto 8W0. The Family Fun Zone attracted many recent graduates with their children to enjoy pony rides, a moon bounce, and free popcorn, snow cones, and cotton
candy provided by Richard Rothe. The weekend closed with the Alumni Association’ s very popular 44th Annual George Patton 6W6 Golf Outing, with a record 144 golfers at Paxon Hollow Golf Club. The outing was organized by Marty Jeffers 7W6, Bob Eplett 7W6, and Ron Rinker 8W5. First place went to the foursome of Dave Carlin 0W4, Joe Bucolo, Troy Grubb, and Joe Finnerty.
Commencement
The Class of 1W7 was encouraged by speaker James Nevels, chairman of the Swarthmore Group, to keep service a part of their lives at the 124th Commencement on June 2.( See the article on page 1.)
