Welcome to fall, Moles and Shrews. As I write this, I just spent part of the day at Freshmen Orientation helping out where needed. How organized the school is now at the process. These freshmen were moving into George, Derrickson, Byers 2, and Byers 3. Wow, four dorms! The room layouts are different than when we were there with bunk beds and closets instead of lockers.
I spent a little time in Dec Shop listening to the orientation and you should have seen their faces when they were told they would have KP or grounds once a week and that they would learn how to mop floors. I had to laugh when I described to a student the lunch menu for our first day, our choice of PBJ or egg salad sandwiches and pink lemonade. To which, this student who had already spent a few days there for sports camp, replied“ you mean it was even worse?” He has no idea. They eat great there. I had a chicken sandwich, curly fries, chicken rice soup, apple pie, and watermelon. Just let them try macaroni loaf sandwiches, or“ Yeeeewww stew,” or“ 180 Cream of Wheat.” Remember“ mystery meat”? Spaghetti that slid off the plate? One fellow alum there said they had one called“ Yellow Death,” which I won’ t go into, lol. Think ours paled by comparison. At least if you wanted to skip dinner, we had Denny’ s or Gino’ s up the road. My home was 35 miles away and my Dad was perplexed how I could rack up 150 miles on the odometer every week.
At the Alumni Day Banquet in June, I saw Don Day, and I was seated with a few of our seniors, Bob Eplett, Art Noel, Joe Santoro, and Marty Jeffers. Bob asked me if he was rough on us Geezers, to which I replied,“ Yep.” I still think about holding up the rec room ceiling with a hard-boiled egg in my mouth.
By the time you read this, we will have had our 3rd Reunion Picnic. Sorry to say that at the last minute plans changed and I couldn’ t make it. As the years roll by I hope that more of you will try to attend. We had so many laughs at the last one last September. Special thanks to Kurt for arranging the picnic grounds on his parents’ farm.
Our 40th will be coming up next year, and maybe we can get something going for around Alumni Day( June 2), like maybe that Sunday. Our special day will be Alumni Day Weekend 2028. I have been to enough Alumni Day Banquets to see what the 50th means to those guys. Many I talk to haven’ t been to the area since Commencement. I’ m sure we can get at least half of you there. Lot of new things on campus at the moment, the new dorm behind Jenks and Stell, renaming of the Power Plant, new school sign out on 352. And on the outside, Granite Run Mall has been leveled, except for Boscov’ s and Sears. The popular question our freshman year was,“ goin’ up the mall?” Anything to get off campus.
For those on Facebook, there is a“ 7W8 Dudes” page that has old pics from the day – check it out.

Bill Bonenberger and his son, along with Brian Cosgrove, celebrated Bill’ s son’ s graduation from college with a motorcycle trip up the coast of Maine in May. They made it all the way to the easternmost point in the U. S., Lubeck, Maine. Sounds like a great trip and much warmer than their winter snow mobile trip. Bill also reported that he ran into a few of our classmates at Alumni Day, including John McCarroll and Dave Hudome.
We also have another road trip story from Tom Noden. Each year Tom and his son visit family in
South Bend, Ind. Tom discovered that Bob Baker lives just minutes from there. Tom arranged to have lunch with Bob and his wife during his visit to South Bend. Tom reported that Bob looks the same as he did over 30 years ago. Bob is still doing boiler consulting with the now version of Combustion Engineering. He has worked with the same company since graduation. They have two boys that are grown now. One is in the military and the other finished college.
The remaining section of this class update is devoted to our class donation participation level. Our initial short term goal is to raise our level of participation and donations from the low to mid 20 percent range to 50 percent. Once we meet this short-term goal, we can set another goal for a higher rate of participation. To increase our participation level, there is not a minimum donation so we are only asking everyone to donate an amount you can afford. Art Lallo expressed his thoughts on this topic much better than I could so I have included Art’ s comments below.
I would like to reiterate the importance of this request and personally ask for your help. When I attend the board meetings as vice chair and Bill is sitting next to me as the chairman of the board we are very proud that we are both from the Class of 7W9, which I must say turned out some really incredible individuals who went on to be very successful and important contributors to the community. I know at one time or another there were times when we all were shaking our head and asked ourselves what did we get ourselves into when the times got rough at Williamson. At that time, we did not realize it was probably the most important turning point in our lives and that the Williamson experience would benefit us the rest of our lives. In the last few years I have seen many of our classmates whether it be at football games, school gatherings, or around the neighborhood and each one of you always had good memories of our school and were doing very well in life. If we can support our effort to increase our class donation participation level it will be greatly appreciated. Remember this is for the young students who are currently attending Williamson and the ones who have not even been accepted, but they are the future of our communities and we need to be supportive. Please enjoy the rest of your year and may you and your family be healthy and safe. Thank you, Art
Bob Duncan

Greetings again my long lost friends! I hope this finds you all well and chugging along like we used to!
So … just when I thought I would probably never hear from a single one of you ever again the phone rings. I was extremely pleased to have the caller identify himself as one Chuck Hall. I am happy to announce to you all that Chuck is doing very well splitting his time between Brigantine, N. J., and Cape Coral, Fla. Chuck and his wife Lisa have raised Ryan and Katie, have six grandchildren with a seventh on the way! Congratulations, Chuck and Lisa! He, of course, asked me who I had been in touch with and I had to tell him pretty much no one as of late. He told me the story of how he traveled to Pottsville, or Schuylkill Haven maybe to attend the wedding of his roommate Ron LaScala many, many moons ago.
It was great to hear from Chuck and I hope this motivates every last one of you Geezers to contact me. Just think how excited you would be to see your name in print in another place besides the post office. There, I have said my normal rant. Don’ t make me call you out by name— John Quarino, Jeff Kinney, Cliff Parker, Tom White, and Marty Chiarolanzio, to name just a few!
Enjoy the days my brothers! Be well! Love you, Misha! Miss you, Mom!

Greetings Classmates:
It’ s hard to believe but 30 years ago this week( I am writing this on Aug. 30) we were returning to Williamson after summer break to start our senior year at the Tech. Mike Tyson was the reigning heavy weight champion of the world and Mark McGwire had just set the rookie record for home runs with 39. And we thought Mark Zadroga was the only one doing steroids in 1987. Madonna had the number one song in the nation with“ Who’ s that girl” and Dave Brown had her poster hanging in his dorm room, too. Michael Jackson also had just released the video“ Bad.”
We would go on to experience events that fall like having a day off for all of us to go to Philadelphia to celebrate( Actually, nobody left Media) for the 200th anniversary of the Constitution. In October, the stock market would crash and we would experience the start of a long lasting tradition that was the master-mind of Jim Bowdler called Crazy Day( basically, Halloween dress-up day) and a bonfire that still take place today at Willy. We also got cable on the dorms for the first time ever.
We would eventually go on to lose our class president( Grand Theft Auto), our class advisor( Gladis was sick of him), and our education administrator, who split and went to Saint Joseph’ s University. But, we all learned that whatever doesn’ t kill you, makes you stronger!!!
Well, besides a trip down memory lane I don’ t have much else to report because I haven’ t gotten any updates of what guys are up to. I know it’ s early, but our 30th reunion is scheduled for October of 2018. I am assuming it will be either Saturday the 13th or the 20th. Plan on being there, the last one only had about 10 guys.
Please let me know what you’ re up to via email: rfry @ ptd. net

9W5,
I am pleased to report that after I rang the bell some of our classmates answered the call for updates!
Got a very impressive email from the guy who puts the Diesel in Diesel powered engines, none other than Seth Slippey. While it is true he could have taken over Mr. Steward’ s job upon graduation he, thankfully, chose to pursue other avenues. He and his wife just celebrated 20 years of marriage and are seeing their oldest daughter off to intern with missionaries in Nicaragua before heading to college in Pensacola. Seth has done some missionary work himself and sent a link with photos https:// youtu. be / eTENHSQGrpQ. I think Isaiah himself would be proud of this 9W5 man. Seth said he sees Ron Uliano almost every week and that they met up with Jeff Martin about two years ago. I’ ve exchanged emails with Mark Purfield and we agreed to get together after the summer. I am anxious to see him so we can talk smack on anyone who is not there to defend himself. I will put it out on Facebook when we decide to hook up and, hopefully, that will get a few more men to the table.
One Friday night I had the good fortune to see Nips and Aaron and, as coincidence would have it, we ran into Jamie Cook who joined us for a few beers. We did a phone-in with the most famous of
all the guys from“ the boot” list, none other than Robert“ Gar” Preston. Hard to believe one man could accrue so many hours and only last for one year. What hustle. He said that Kevin Anderson was with him but that was not confirmed and may have been a ruse to have us leave our watering hole to join him in Aston. Ando, please give me a call and confirm or deny that you were in fact out with Gar.
That is all for now and I look forward to hearing from more of some of the finest trained tradesmen in the world.
Regards, John Queeney

Hello to the fellow 1W7 graduates,
It felt like yesterday we walked across the stage in the honor of receiving our degree from Williamson College of the Trades. I hope everyone had a great summer either working and or having fun, but of course with a pleasant feeling knowing that our memories of forming a brotherhood, while building our careers, are the only part of us that be back at Williamson; as future men like us gear up for another school year.
Since graduation we all, of course, have been busy with developing our working lifestyle, but here is an inside look for all to read. Starting with me, I have been working as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies grounds crew. I thank the Philadelphia Eagles for the internship I had with them last summer since it gave me extra experience that stood out to the Philadelphia Phillies. Nonetheless, with the start of my career at the Philadelphia Eagles, I am pleased to announce that in the past month of August, I have accepted the offer of being a member of the game day crew for the Philadelphia Eagles. After time passes I plan on trying to move my career to the Philadelphia Union, since Ryan Haines, a member of 1W8 class that is soon graduating, worked there this past summer. He will give me a good word to get me in the door. Since past alumni, including ourselves, lead the way for these internships and jobs, Joe Marchozzi, a member of 1W8 class that is soon graduating, works as an intern for the Philadelphia Eagles. It is great to see the experience he now has.
Recently I talked to Kristian Cowher, who now works for the Altoona Curve. For Kristian, the internship he held with them last summer helped him contract to now being the head groundskeeper. He enjoys working there and he claims the best part about working there is that he gets to have his own office.
As for Brandon Deeck, he expressed that he is doing great. At the beginning of the summer he purchased a shore house in Wildwood, N. J., equipped with jet skis. Who knows, possibly next year he will throw some parties for all of us to get together, but, of course, without the morning wake-up call we had to endure the past three years. In the pleasure of buying the house, he thanks his business, which is growing and preforming excessively. For those of you guys who do not know his company it is called Build, Grow, Design, also known as BGD Landscape. This past summer he was contracted by John Hudyma, a former alumnus.
I have hopes everyone will stay in touch with how their lives have been changing. Let’ s not make this the end of us creating memories together when we walked across the stage to receive our diplomas.
As this small glimpse of what some of us have accomplished comes to the end I would just like to say, if any of you guys have anything going on within your life or simply accepting a new job position or internship, feel free to email me, message me on social media, or send a text message.
Sincerely, Shane Goodworth 1W7, Horticulture
