Cameron Brain
RAY WHITE CITY REALTY
GROUP, NZ
Cameron Brain is an auctioneer and director of sales at Ray White City Realty Group in New Zealand.
What inspired you to start a career in real estate?
I started in real estate because my father had several developments that
he was completing at the time, and I watched the agents sell those and thought that real estate could be the career for me.
What’ s been the most defining moment of your career so far?
There have been many defining moments, one was starting at Ray White Rowville( Victoria) with John Shore back in February 1993, where I found my passion for auctions. The other defining moment was being recruited by Phil Horrobin in 2013 to join what is now the Ray White City Realty Group in Auckland where I still work.
What do you love most about being an auctioneer?
There is an excitement when selling a property under the hammer, the
emotions of both the buyer and seller. I was told once that we change people ' s lives- I like to think we do.
What’ s one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
I could legally fly a plane before I could legally drive a car.
If you weren’ t in real estate, what would you be doing?
Flying a plane as a pilot.
How do you structure your day to stay productive and organised?
Ask anyone who knows me- my days are planned and structured in advance. I’ m a very routine person and find that I need structure and routine to work the hours I do. My day starts at 4:30am, an ice bath at
5am, cardio training at 5:30am, coffee at 6:30am, breakfast at 7:15am, and work by 8:15am. I have appointments and meetings until 1pm, a PT session at 1pm, sauna at 2pm and back to appointments from 2:30pm to 6pm and sometimes evening meetings.
What’ s your dream holiday destination?
Fiji- it’ s where I relax with my partner Karen.
What’ s the best book / podcast / tv show / movie you’ ve recently enjoyed?
I have never been a reader, so last year I set the goal of listening to 12 audio books. Now it is something I do every day. The best audio book I have listened to is Shoe Dog by Phil Knight- the Nike story.

RAY WHITE WOODVILLE, SA
As the business manager for the high achieving Ray White Woodville, Leah is in charge of the day-to-day running of the office and its award winning team of sales agents and property managers.
How did you get your start in the industry?
I began my journey in the industry at a young age, working weekends
at a real estate company when I was just 15, while still in school. This early experience provided a fantastic introduction to the field, allowing me to learn the ropes and gain handson knowledge. My love for houses combined with that exposure truly ignited my passion for real estate.
If you weren’ t in real estate, what would you be doing?
If I weren’ t in real estate, I could see myself in project management. I’ ve always enjoyed organising and coordinating different aspects of a project, ensuring everything runs smoothly. The skills I ' ve developed in real estate, like communication, problem-solving, and multitasking, would translate well to managing projects. It’ s a field that also allows for collaboration and seeing a project come to fruition, which I find really rewarding.
What’ s the biggest challenge you’ ve faced in your career, and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge I encountered in my career was having two children within 19 months and returning to work immediately afterward. Balancing motherhood with my professional responsibilities was quite demanding. I had to learn how to prioritise and manage my time effectively, leaning on a strong support system from my family. Although it was difficult, those experiences taught me resilience and ultimately made me more organised and focused in my work.
If you could meet anyone from history, who would it be?
If I could meet anyone from history, it would be Lady Diana. I admire her compassion, grace, and the way she used her platform to advocate for important causes. I would love to hear
her thoughts on life, her experiences, and how she managed the pressures of fame while staying true to herself.
What’ s the best book or podcast you’ ve recently enjoyed?
The best podcast I ' ve recently enjoyed is the Kic Podcast. It offers such insightful discussions on health, wellness, and personal development. The hosts share practical tips and inspiring stories that really resonate with me and it’ s both entertaining and motivating.
What’ s the best piece of advice you’ ve ever received?
The best piece of advice I’ ve ever received is to embrace challenges and view them as opportunities for growth. It’ s a reminder that every setback can lead to valuable lessons and ultimately make me stronger and more resilient.
