In March , we hosted some of our best business owners for a Leadership Academy where they could learn from like minded leaders . It ’ s so critical for us to improve the leadership skills across an entire organisation and we ' re blessed that we also had one of the finest business leaders in the world , Professor Boris Groysberg , who ' s a professor at Harvard Business School take several sessions .
Leadership Academy is not so much about the techniques of actually selling but the techniques of running a business , how to be a good leader - and very few people are natural leaders , it requires a lot of discipline . We ’ re creating the next generation of leadership .
We ’ ve seen so many young people developing confidence , not just confidence in selling property but confidence in leadership . How to bring teams together , have people believing and knowing that they ' re getting a wonderful career environment and unmitigated , superb performance .
Anytime we have a leadership conference , the concept of auction is always included and it ' s a key consistent part of our evaluation of performance - how an office is performing and how individuals performed , and it ' s just so natural that people who are doing particularly well in this industry are very comfortable with this ‘ competition creation ’. his business is his name and right underneath is the word auctioneer . Auction has been an integral part of our family history from the early days through to now .
We believe that auctions create enormous benefits to vendors . It facilitates the creation of competition and when competition happens , good things happen to the price . That ’ s why we focus enormously on auctions . We have a massive auction market share across Australia and New Zealand combined and we intend to continue to build on that .
We do so many more auctions than anyone else and each group develops its own philosophy and what it wishes to do . We ' ve been consistent with this .
This isn ’ t something for us that has a seasonal impact or comes and goes . It ' s been a key component ever since my grandfather , Ray , opened his doors . And that ' s the case now we have auctioneers in every state and in every market .
Ray White currently holds a commanding nearly 14 per cent market share . We maintain this through consistency . And one phrase I love is that we ’ re a springboard for our people and the harder they jump on us , the higher they go .
