OUR DEVELOPMENT PRINCIPLES
OUR DEVELOPMENT PRINCIPLES
The principles that guide the development of our technology springboard include :
FURTHER TOGETHER LEVERAGE BUYING POWER
Our ambitions in technology , and therefore our future as a group , can only be realised when the one technology system is used by all of our members .
EMPOWER LEADERSHIP
Every piece of our technology platform is designed to support leadership , and enhance the long-term relevance of business owners with their teams . We know from experience the best technology will only have an impact if the business owner is engaged with it .
We enter into enterprise agreements ( i . e . one contract at wholesale rates for our entire network ) for products that are ( i ) essential to the operation of our businesses , ( ii ) consistently used by all businesses , ( iii ) best in class , and ( iv ) able to be contracted on favourable terms . We ’ re always evaluating what we should include in our One System , and are cautious not to make it too unwieldy or expensive for our members .
INCUBATE COSTS OF INNOVATION AND INVESTMENT
BUILD AND BUY
We build when a solution we need is either not available from third party providers to an acceptable standard , or relates to an area of our operations that is too important to outsource to third parties ( e . g . core CRM , lead generation and management , and performance reporting ). The purchase of a majority shareholding in NurtureCloud in 2020 and the development of Pulse are examples of ‘ build ’ decisions .
COLLECT AS MUCH DATA AS POSSIBLE
The costs of developing products before they ’ ve reached a level in which they ’ re fit for broad release to the network are incubated . There is no value assigned to the product in determining One System pricing until it reaches this stage .
CREATE NETWORK EFFECTS
Network effects are the increase in the value of our technology the more our members use it . Being the largest network by a significant margin , network effects enable us to create unique value . Profit Pulse , Refer and the NurtureCloud buyer module are examples of this .
For many years we ’ ve been focussed on collecting all the data from the applications we use , and then allowing our data engineers to experiment and develop new products from it .
