Surfing sensations

When did you first start surfing and where ? I ' ve played around all my life but being over an hour ' s drive from a surf beach meant no consistency . I got into it a bit more frequently about seven years ago in Bali .
What do you enjoy most about it ? I enjoy the peace and the adrenaline at the same time . Also that it doesn ' t require much to do it , just a board , it ’ s not reliant on anyone else or too much setting up or packing down .
What ’ s your favourite surf spot ? My favourite surf spot is Medlands Beach at Great Barrier Island .
Any tips for beginners ? The bigger the board the more fun it is to learn .

When did you first start surfing and where ? I started late in life in 2012 , my mates convinced me to go to the Mentawai Islands in Indonesia just after I learnt how to stand up .
What do you enjoy most about it ? I enjoy the peace and quiet of not having people around you , and the amazing yearly trips I go on with mates .
What ’ s your favourite surf spot ? The Telo Islands , Indonesia . They have the most amazing surf in the world and are still relatively quiet .
Any tips for beginners ? Start young and surf in waves that are challenging as you will learn quicker .

When did you first start surfing and where ? I started surfing in 1987 . I grew up in Caloundra and my first surfs would have been Happy Valley .
What do you enjoy most about it ? These days I enjoy hanging out and the camaraderie of surfing with mates , I also enjoy finding an empty beach break but they ' re getting fewer and farther between .
What ’ s your favourite surf spot ? Anywhere off the back of a boat !
Any tips for beginners ? Go to a surf school and get a lesson or two . Learn etiquette in the line up .
