Up here in The North Country our winters are long, our

growing season is short, and our love for the mountains runs

deep. We may be less associated with romance than, say, the

canals of Venice or the lights of Paris, but we have a solid

understanding of warmth, coziness, and good times. Dear

reader, allow me to walk you through the best romantic day of

your life.

Whether you awake to the brilliance of a North Country morning, or roll up here via one of our many scenic routes, it is in your best interest to start your morning strong. I recommend a heart-rate-elevating stroll up to Bald Peak and Artist's Bluff. The views fill onlookers with the majesty of

Franconia Notch and the hike is far from strenuous.

Any day that starts with a thermos of hot coffee,

shared within the warming embrace of a loved one, is

a day started right.

As you cruise back into downtown Littleton options

abound for breakfast destinations.. Pancakes from

The Littleton Diner, baked goodies from The French

Sisters, a snack enjoyed right on The Ammonoosuc

River from Miller's Cafe, an intimate corner at The

Coffee Pot, or the extensive menu and friendly service

at The Topic Of The Town. You really can't go wrong, it

is probably best to try a different spot every visit!

With bellies full, walking the eclectic shops of

Littleton's historic downtown is a leisurely way to

burn off the morning's meal. Your special someone

will no doubt appreciate a generous token to

remember the time spent together in the

North Country. Jewelry shops are plentiful for that

perfect set of silver earrings, nothing says, "I love

you," like a ukelele from Northern Lights Music Store,

and there is no more intimate come-hither gesture

than a Stephen King novel from the Village Book

Store.
