David Fitzpatrick has devoted 55 years to the sport of purebred dogs, beginning as an assistant handler in 1970 and building a distinguished career as a breeder, exhibitor, and judge. Under his Pequest prefix, he has bred more than 100 champions, including 19 Best in Show winners. His Pekingese have earned Best in Show at Westminster in 2012 and 2021, Reserve Best in Show in 2023, and nine Toy Group wins there, along with victories at Morris & Essex, the AKC National, and 18 Best in Show titles at the Progressive Dog Club.
Widely recognized for his contributions, David has received numerous honors including the Dogs in Review Winkie Award for Best Handler, AKC Toy Group Breeder of the Year, and AKC Breeder of the Year. He serves in leadership roles with several breed and kennel clubs and is approved to judge all Toy and Non Sporting breeds in the U. S., as well as internationally. Retired from professional handling, he continues to shape the sport through his judging, mentorship, and breeding program.
