Some wish to never remember
their haunting past
how selfish does this seem
to those who cannot remember anything?
The past hurts,
like a mother losing a child.
Even when the memory fades
the feeling of absence
is present.
Learning from the past
Is part of growing up,
An underlying lesson
To be learned
For those who care,
But then we forget all together,
Mixing days with years,
Months with minutes.
Soon we forget it all.
