She said she will continue to negotiate with the city administrator regarding their present situation as the capital used by most of her members were loaned out from money lenders .
Meanwhile , in an separate interview , Marvin Luchavez , a vendor of 12 years beside Gaisano Capital , said he is willing to be transferred in Toog “ pero nakalitan lang kay misugot naman unta to na mobalhin me sa katapusan . Wala gyud nila me hatagi ’ g kahigayonan na mahalin among mga tinda niining paskoha na unta mibotar man me sa mayor niadtong miaging eleksyon .”
He is willing to be transferred to Toog but he was caught by the sudden decision because the administrator had earlier agreed to transfer at the end of the month . We were not given the chance to sell our fruits during the Christmas season , when in fact we voted for this mayor in the last elections .)
He has regrets that he voted for the present mayor .
Edwin Dura , Jomer Juntillas , and Larry Beltran also shared the same sentiments with Luchaves . They said their mangoes and bananas are now rotting . Unlike his OFVA president who paid P40 for a ticket , they said they were issued ticket of P10 a day from a collector of the city government at their stall beside the Gaisano .
But since they were transferred , they have not been collected . Luchavez said he owed P40,000 from a money lender for vending

banana , mangoes , apples , pineapples , grapes , oranges , pearls , and kiat-kiat fruits at the sidewalks .
Luchvez has five children , two of them in college schools , two in grade school , and a on-year-old child . He said one of his college students is now in on-job-training . He is hoping the OJT of his son will not compromise with meager income in holiday seasons .
“ Maayo unta makahuman akong anak luyo sa akong mga pagmahay ug kahiubos niining ilang demolisyon . Nanginabuhi ra man unta ko sa matarong na pamaagi .”
( Would that my son would be able to finish in the face of our regret and humiliation . We are just trying to earn a living the decent way .)
Buck passing
The Weekly Vanguard sought the side of the city government , but Ormoc Market OIC Supervisor Rodolfo Labarda did not comment on the issue . He passed the matter to his superior Arthur Arcuino , the market administrator .
The latter also declined to comment , passing the issue to the police traffic division . But the traffic chief Police Chief Insp . Manuelito Wenceslao was on leave . A police officer said the order came from the mayor . They only implemented it upon the instructions of Ormoc City Dir . SSup . Ramil Ramirez .
The vendors are wondering who is really in charge here as they have been passed from one official to another .#
From a reporter ’ s notebook : Feels like it ’ s Christmas
Even journalists take a break , too .
These past few days have been uneventful . There were no gruesome murders at least in our region , and even social crimes have been kept at a minimum . No fires blazing , boats capsizing , or raging typhoons .
The one that ’ s going to hit us this weekend is a fluke in these times of world-class destructive typhoons . Except for that fateful road accident in Villaba more than a week ago , the police log books are relatively clean these days . No deaths from tokhangs resulting from suspects who resisted . Relative peace reigns in our communities . Indeed , it must be Christmas .
The malls and markets are full with people really shopping in earnest . Christmas parties seem to be unending . People with money to spend make all sorts of excuses to spend their extra cash and show off their latest dress . In your Facebook accounts you see tables overflowing with food and the everpresent inasal in its shimmering brown skin . In other tables , smiling faces , hands clutching bottles of beer or brandy .
You don ’ t see grimacing hungry faces , no traces of the poverty that we have been ranting about . At Christmas time , poverty becomes fictitious . Let ’ s throw our miseries to the wind , we say , and celebrate because it ’ s not every day that we get our bonus and 13th month pays . Good for those employed .
The spending spree somehow ends at New Year because , according to some beliefs , it ’ s not good to spend on the first day of the year . Time to take stock of one ’ s bills , see how much is left of the bonus , find out how much debt one has incurred in those hilarious parties . Time to carefully budget one ’ s expenses for the coming week or month and see if there are leaks that need to be plugged . Time to get real .
But that ’ s a week from now . As for today , don ’ t worry , be happy . Hakuna matata . No one got killed in the drug war , like the killers are taking a break from their mission , too . Merry Christmas .
Season ’ s Greetings
