Over the past month community ideas have flowed into DCL following the release of concept
designs for the new Beachside Playground in June. Over 400 people were spoken to at the Seaside
markets over the consultation period and around 200 feedback forms were received during the
month-long feedback process, which concluded on July 23. It has been fantastic to see so many
people getting involved, and the design team are working hard to create the best playground
possible.
Seating, shading, grassed areas, and accessibility were key themes in many of the responses
received by DCL.
Work on the new playground is set to start this month, with the first works beginning
on August 8. The new playground will be built to the south of the existing
whale pool and play area, with the grassed area fenced off to the public
throughout the construction period.
DCL is continuing to engage with business and land owners to facilitate
the revitalisation of the mall area. Work is continuing on the designs for
the hot pools, for which funding was secured in June.
