Welcome to the April edition of The Voice of Innkeeping. I share my message with you this month with a heavy heart. Our industry recently lost an amazing man, husband to Marilyn, father to three children, a brother, a grandfather to four and a real champion for our industry.
Scott was an amazing man. For those who did not know Scott, he was an Inn Consultant and Broker and a proud member of AIHP. For those of you who knew Scott, you know he loved our industry and that he and Marilyn loved their work with Aspiring Innkeepers. With Marilyn and the Bushnell families’ blessing, AIHP is establishing a Scholarship Endowment for Aspiring Innkeepers in Scott’s name: The D. Scott Bushnell Scholarship Endowment. These funds will support Aspiring Innkeepers’ journey to become innkeepers. We will be establishing a taskforce shortly that will oversee the management of this scholarship endowment in Scott’s name. There will be more details to follow in the coming weeks.
We are touched that the Bushnell family would support our efforts to remember Scott and support our efforts to grow and bring new faces to the innkeeping industry. If you would like to make a contribution to the D. We are excited to share with you some of the experiences from our recent 2018 Knowledge Sharing Summit and Marketplace that we hosted in Norfolk, Virginia. It was an amazing week with innkeepers and allied partners from around the country, coming together to network, learn, laugh and share their passion for this wonderful industry. We hope you enjoy the pictures and the recap of our Summit. I can’t thank enough the AIHP team and our host of volunteers, who made this event possible. We truly are blessed to have such a passionate and committed group. A special thank you to our exhibitors and sponsors who supported our Summit. We could not do this without them.
