I hope this has been a fantastic summer season for you. I am sharing with you this issue a program coordinated and hosted by AIHP to thank our active military and veterans for their service. This program is open to all inns and B&Bs in the U.S. This November, we hope you will join AIHP in participating in B&Bs for Vets.

Kathleen Panek, owner of the Gillum House in West Virginia, launched the B&Bs for Vets program in 2008 as a way to thank our veterans for their service. This year we will celebrate the tenth anniversary for this program and we hope you’ll participate. We’re excited to offer all innkeepers the opportunity to participate.

There’s no fee to be a part of it, and you do not need to be a member of AIHP to participate.

In keeping with the original program and Kathleen’s request, innkeepers are simply asked to give at least one room away to a deserving vet (no strings attached, no buy-one night/get one night) in order to participate in B&Bs for Vets. Many innkeepers will offer more than one room, which is encouraged.

Because of where the holiday falls, we are asking innkeepers to give their free rooms away on Thursday, November 9th, Friday, November 10th or Saturday, November 11, 2017. If innkeepers want to offer all three nights to vets it is of course encouraged!

A list of participating properties will be posted on www.bandbsforvets.org. To avoid the pitfalls of difficult forms and posting procedures, we’ve developed a simple list of questions to answer with your offer. AIHP has hired Deborah Dapson of Copper Moon Media to upload all information for participating inns, so you won’t have to decipher online forms as in the past.

To participate, we ask you email answers to the following questions to

[email protected]. When your offer is live on the website, Deborah will email you to let you know your offer is up. Save her email and then respond back to her when your rooms are filled and Deborah will indicate your rooms are filled on the website.
