The Voice of Innkeeping Issue 4 Vol. 1 August 2016 | Page 7

On the Road again…..

It’s great when I get the opportunity to travel to visit innkeepers. Yes I love visiting and seeing what’s cooking in the kitchen, to taste how great the coffee really is.

Get some decorating tips and innkeeping secrets from behind the scene, yes I absorb it all up and come home with a big ball of information and ideas.

This summer’s trip involved a few of our members, Virginia Stonewall Jackson inn owner, Wayne Engel who is our cover story this issue, shared his experience when a fire broke out in his laundry room.

We then travelled and met with Peter and Peggy Scherman of the B&B Team for a delightful brunch and got to see a glimpse of their beautiful Charlottesville, VA. Then off to the Outer Banks, NC, to visit Bebe and Bob Woody of the White Doe Inn. It was pretty hot in them thar parts let me tell you. Peter Scherman said we must visit the national park, which is a beach … sad to tell you Peter we didn’t go, the sand was a blistering 100º+ and these tootsies weren’t walking on fire!

Stopped in Pennsylvania twice to see perspective members Inne at Watson’s Choice and Speedwell Forge both beautiful inns with amazing accouterment’s.

One thing in common- the hospitality and genuine interest from all these innkeepers to ensure that all their guests have a great experience during their stay is a common thread amongst all of them. That is what makes this industry so great is the hospitality not to forget the AMAZING food.

You can see my photo trail here at the bottom and YES is was all So YUMMY!
