Dear innkeepers,

As we head closer to fall, it’s time to start thinking about the B&Bs for Vets program. Good news! We’re rolling out the program earlier and have streamlined the process of posting your offer to make it as easy to participate as possible. All innkeepers are invited to participate in the 2016 B&Bs for Vets program by offering a minimum of one room for one night and totally free to veterans and active military. Kathleen Panek, owner of the Gillum House in West Virginia, launched the B&Bs for Vets program in 2008 as a way to thank our veterans for their service. In keeping with the original program and Kathleen’s request, innkeepers are asked to give at least one room away (no strings attached, no buy-one night/get one night) in order to participate. Many innkeepers will offer more than one room which is encouraged.

Because of where the holiday falls, we are asking innkeepers to give their free rooms away on Thursday, November 10th so veterans can wake up at your inn/B&B on Veteran’s Day and enjoy the festivities in your locale. If innkeepers want to offer more free nights to vets it is of course welcomed!

A list of participating properties will be posted on http://bandbsforvets.org/, a website we’re still updating for 2016. It’s not quite live yet. To avoid the pitfalls of difficult forms and posting procedures, we’ve developed a simple list of questions to answer with your offer, inn description and photo and contact information. AIHP has hired Deb Dapson of Copper Moon Media to upload all information for participating inns, so you won’t have to.

To participate, we ask you to email your offer and contact information along with one photo and a 250 character description of the inn to our webmaster at [email protected]. When your offer is live on the website, Deb will email you to let you know your offer is live. Save her email and then respond back to her when

your rooms are filled and Deb will indicate your rooms are filled on the website.

Now, here’s the information you need to send to [email protected] (copy and paste these 10 points into the body of your email and respond):
