The Voice Issue 7, Summer 2013 | Page 10

My Life after a Larygectomy 2011 started very cold and I spent most of the time indoors, trying to be a proper housewife: making soup, dusting, hoovering etc. By the end of January I thought, ‘what are you doing?’ so off I went to a dog show - and won a first prize. I was also having chemo at Christies with some lovely nurses and my Consultant ‘Prof Timothy Illidge’ who definitely does not think I am normal! March was approaching fast. There was a lot of cleaning teeth, filing of nails, brushing, shampooing and conditioning and of course I do mean ‘the dog’ Zac, as it was time for CRUFTS. Zac did very well and got a 2nd in his class. I was overjoyed and walked on air for the rest of the day. We attended a lot of shows during the year going up and down the country and he has done very well. He is now going to be with the ‘big boys’ as he is now two so we are keeping our fingers crossed. 10 THE VOICE | Summer 2013
