The VoicE Q3
Challenge, Dave guides our entire
system all year on the path to success
for Owners, Members and the Brand.
BUT - when I think of Dave, I smile.
He’s funny, smart, dedicated and
absolutely relentless about getting
things done and done right. When
asked for his expertise on gym operations,
he is a master. Anytime you
have a chance to occupy his time a
bit, you MUST pick his brain. Brilliant
is a great summary for Dave along
with being a gentle and humble
friend. We are all better people
when we’re around Dave Kenyon!!!!”
Ginger Collins, Executive Director
Gold’s Gym Franchisee Association
“I’ve known Dave for many years
and he is truly one of the most stand
up guys in the industry! He is never
afraid of a “challenge“ and jumped
right into the Gold’s Gym family head
first as the “First Man” of the GGFA
to our President Kim and son-in-law
to the godfather of fitness, Bill Austin.
This basically makes him Gold’s
Gym royalty! Dave has carved out
his own path and the work he has
done with the Gold’s Gym Challenge
on behalf of the entire brand is
second to none. Dave is passionate,
caring and always willing to share
information and help his fellow
franchisees. Although he doesn’t
wear a crown, Dave is definitely the
King of The Challenge!”
Mike Epstein, Owner
Gold’s Gym Paramus, NJ
GGFA Director Emeritus
We asked Dave for some insight into
the future. Our interview with him has
come during the pandemic, with many
gyms in our brand still closed, Gold’s
Gym Dutchess County included.
In all the years the family has lived
and worked together, they have never
faced anything like a pandemic! They
were mandated to close their gyms on
March 16th and are some of the last to
reopen in the Gold’s Gym brand. They
remained quarantined at home as
everyone has, homeschooling their
kids and working on making capital
improvements at both gyms. They are
trying to determine what changes
are temporary and what are going to
be long-term, as we go through the
summer and into the fall. “It’s of the
utmost importance for our staff and
members to feel safe,” shared Dave.
He said that the hard part is that we
have not gone through something like
this before. It is difficult to know what
may happen, but he is extremely excited
about reopening. It is like a grand
opening of your business again. And
while the world is changing and the
future will be different for sure, he sees
a great opportunity for everyone. “We
are looking at every aspect of our business
to make us better,” said Dave.
“We’re making capital improvements
and sharing with our members on social
media, what will be new for them when
we reopen. It is also going to be a time
for us to help our members to be
better. We will hold people accountable
for their behavior, making positive
changes to help them improve their
fitness and health.” Changing behavior
in workouts helps them change the
way they live outside the gym as well.
Most people spend between 2-5 hours
a week in the gym so it’s important to
make changes outside the club too.
Dave feels that with so much going
on in the world right now, as a brand,
Gold’s Gym has a huge opportunity to
make a difference, not only in health
and fitness, but in making the world
a better place, one member and
community at a time.
