The GGFA is proud to share that ClubCom recently celebrated a twenty
year anniversary, as part of the Gold’s Gym family.
We love them and appreciate their support of the GGFA through their SPN
Membership that dates back to June 1, 2008!
And everyone knows they create the awesome video loops for the Owners’
Conference every year and all of our cocktail parties!
We are so happy for Marc and Hillary Farber and
their entire team. Marc shared the memory in his
statement below.
“Gold’s was our first national account, and while
our agreement with Gold’s Gym International
wasn’t signed until June 17th (twenty years
yesterday), Mark’s Steinfield’s Howell club was
our first Gold’s install on May 18, 2000.
So happy to still be part of the Gold’s Gym family.”

A Message on Support from VP of Fitness, Jay Graves...
Wow! Is it August already? Where have the first months of 2020
gone? As you look back on the year, what do you see? Personally,
I see a strong team of leaders at our Support Center in Dallas,
who were excited to execute a detailed plan, in January, that was
designed around the “One Club” and“One Brand” mindset. I see
incredible success at the club level, through January and
February, in new member acquisition, personal training sales,
group exercise attendance, as well as member and Team
Member retention and satisfaction. March started on the same
trajectory and it was going to be arecord-breaking year… Then on
March 13th everything changed.
From here, our reality changed. In-person meetings gave way to
video conferences. Going to the club, or the office became
working from a guest room at home. Exercising at the clubs
turned into at-home fitness. Dining out became ordering from
Uber eats or Door dash. The unfortunate financial impact across
the fitness industry resulted in furloughed Team Members, clubs
closings, and Chapter 11 restructuring. So many side effects of
the COVID-19 pandemic. So many things that were out of our
control and it was all new. All of this and to make matters worse,
none of us had experienced anything like this before. There was
no guide or reference. We were forced to craft a strategy for our
“new normal”.
For the next 2 months, that same group of leaders who had
designed and executed the “One Club” plan, went to work
designing a “Reopening” plan. A detailed phased approach to
reopening our clubs with the safety of our Team Members and
members being the top priority. Countless hours of videoconferences,
late-night emails, early morning debates, along with a
lot of laughs, and the Gold’s Gym Reopening Playbook was born.
Through the entire process, the mindset was to have a “One Club,
One Brand” plan that could be implemented by any of our club
operators, whether corporate or franchise, to facilitate a safe and
successful reopening once permitted by the government.
As of today, we have reopened over 200 clubs, and though we
have had to amend some of the playbooks due to a few unforeseen
issues, we have witnessed extreme success in reopening
across the board.
So here we are in August, and if you have read this far, you are
probably thinking, okay where is he going with this? The truth is,
all of this is to let each of you know that you have a team at the
Support Center who is committed to serving this brand. We
truly believe that our role is to do just that. To “support”. We
are approaching our strategy and our structure around a
“system-wide” concept, which will encompass the corporate clubs
and the franchise clubs. Since stepping into my role, I have been
honored to participate in the 2020 Gold’s Gym Challenge judging
and have been asked by Ginger and Dave to sit on the committee
for 2021. I have worked with Craig Sherwood’s team to set up
monthly franchise fitness development calls, and I am working
closely with Adam and Justin to provide additional support
around our fitness offerings. We hear you! We see you!
We are here for you! We are One Club, One Team, and One Brand!
We are Gold’s Gym and as we enter the back part of 2020, know
that we are at work for you!
