Hear from Franchisee, Jim
Czupil on his 2019 Tour de
Pink ride...
“Well we’ve come to the end of another
successful, safe conclusion to the Tour
de Pink. The last day was our shortest
ride……..47 miles. Nice weather again
and as is tradition we ended up at a
beach. That is so all the survivors can
take a ceremonial dip that is meant to
“wash away” all the pain and suffer-
ing they have endured and to get their
mind right about what lies ahead. You
can see in the attached picture Team
Clydesdales celebrated by hoisting
their bikes to salute the beneficiaries
of your generosity and prayers.
The highlight of day three was the last
two and a half miles. Each night at
dinner we’ve been sitting with Laurie.
She is currently under treatment, wears
her head wrap and has more spirit then
Team Clydesdales combined. As fate
would have it we came across Laurie
riding by herself with a moto escort
with the two and a half miles left. Now
YSC talks often of the “bubble.” That is
a symbolic term for everyone fighting
this disease that there is a safe place
to go…….YSC support and services………
where you get everything from a listening
ear to information critical to beating
this disease. Anyway there is Laurie
riding alone with her bib number and
the bib number reserved for Lisa
Fran…….#1. If you recall from previous
rides Lisa is a seven time survivor who
could only join us for a short time at the
finish line. She is battling once again.
She started the Tour de Pink and is the
Godmother of the event. Well we
decided to slow down and ride in with
Laurie………sort of creating our own
“bubble” around her. Coolest damn
thing we did all tour. Coming home
with her and watching her celebrate
riding a total of 100 miles this weekend
while in treatment was some-
thing you never forget.
Again, thanks for all of your
generosity and prayers. They
were and will always be very
much appreciated. You
support a very worthy cause.
God bless all of you………….
Jim”
