" Mom , Mom !!" yelled 14-yearold Tyra , out-of-breath from running down their long stairway . " Yes , I ' m in the laundry room ," her mom called . Tyra took a deep breath , then told her mom , " Dad called , and said he ’ ll be home in 30 minutes !" They were so excited , they couldn ' t stop rushing around . " Do you have a sweatshirt ? It could get cold on the plane ," her mom reminded . " Yep , got it !" Tyra replied ." Tyra ’ s family continued to load everything up , and about an hour later , they arrived at the airport . Tyra ' s family went through security without a hitch . They got something to eat and drink , then excitedly sat at their gate waiting for the plane . " How long will the flight be , Dad ?" asked

" We have to make 1 stop on the way , but altogether about 15 hours ." her dad replied . “ Oh , and that ’ s our plane they ’ re announcing !” They waited for the boarding call , and once on the plane , they found their row and sat down . In ten minutes , they were off ! After a smooth ride , they landed and changed planes , then took off for another 11 hours in the air . Finally , they got to Africa , tired and jet-lagged ! It was hot and sunny in Africa when they got there , but that didn ' t bother them ! Off went her family in their rented , dirty jeep down the road . They drove for about 15 minutes to pick up Marie , the lady they would be staying with . Marie hopped into the jeep and everyone got acquainted as they drove down to her hut .
