made us to be is the assurance deep down that we can completely trust in Father God for every need of our life. That trust right there is what will attract the right kind of man, delight his heart, and teach you how to walk alongside him in honor—while having fun! It frees him from the crushing burden of having to be perfect to please you, and it frees you to enjoy all his kindness without fear. Trust like this may be a process to grow in, and you may argue with me that it’s not possibly as sim- ple as learning to trust. There are things we must DO, right? Correct. But let me propose to you the pos- sibility that even the things we do are supposed to flow spontaneous- ly out of a heart full of love, and that the only way we can possess that perfect love that casts out fear and motivates us to action is by first trusting enough to receive it. Don’t know how? Not a problem. I’ve observed that God actually enjoys the process of proving His incredible goodness and build- ing trust in our hearts, however many years that may take Him. He never tires of it. One by one He’ll take you to the hurting places of your heart and stand by you in the struggle till you’re ready to surren- der one more piece of your broken self for Him to fill and redeem. I 32 have never known Him to use His power to scorn or hurt me where I’m vulnerable. He always uses it to lift me up. This confidence will increase over time and enlarge your capacity to receive His love when He comes to give it. It is that love that will cast fear out of your heart and bring you alive to be the vibrant, fearless woman you’ve dared dream possible. He will do it… but it starts with a choice from you. The choice to take a risk—and trust. “That He would grant you… to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.” Eph 3:16-19 KJV What a wonderful passage [one of my favorites]. You have the very authority of the Scriptures to stand on to go to God and say, “I need Your Holy Spirit to strength- en me in my inner being so I can receive the love of Christ—which is broad and wonderful beyond anything I can imagine right now. It’s Your love that frees me from fear; and, God, I need to be freed from fear. I want to be like the women of old who adorned them- selves with the attitude of unwor- ried trust and obedience. Would You take me there, Lord? Would You open me up and free me to be the woman You ordained me to be ever since You formed me in the womb? (Psalm 139) And would You protect me and lead me to the right man, one who will care for me in the same loving way You do, and represent Your good heart towards me, and lead me as he follows You?” That in itself is an act of obedi- ence springing out of trust in what God says. He will doubtless use it to multiply that trust inside you, and bring you by and by to that perfect place of rest. I myself am still on that journey, hun- gry inside to the know the FULL depth of the love of my Father so that I’m unafraid of whatever life brings along. Don’t get too hard on yourself. Learn to relax and enjoy the process as much as God does. He’s the One Who wants to fill you with love, and He’s the One Who’s able to teach you what trust is all about by and by. Lean on Him to do the heavy lifting, and begin to experience what being a woman is all about. It’s the most wonderful, freeing thing you’ll ever experience, and it will shape you into the woman your man longs for and needs most. This—discovering who you really are as a woman via trust in your Heavenly Husband—is the only way I know to have a fulfilling re- lationship with an earthly man. I hope you dance in the flowers. I hope you shriek with laughter and twirl in that new dress because you feel so beautiful and whole. I hope you take on life with a fear- lessness and fire in your eye ex- plained only by the Love that has enlarged you to live fully. I hope you bubble over with kindness and wisdom to those around you, and take on the nature of your Comforter when others are hurt. I hope you grin with playful mis- chief and thrive on the challenges life brings. I hope that you are covered by a man who leads you with all the gentleness and in- tegrity of Christ. And I hope that the deep desires you apprehend in your heart come to pass as you surrender to and wait patiently on the Creator who put them there. Trust in God. It will never lead you wrong. 33
