Being purposeful and taking care of ourselves on the outside is important as well. Often I notice people have this attitude that they are at liberty to do what they will with their bodies as long as they are happy, enjoying life, and not really hurting anyone. “After all, it is their body, and I guess they can do what they want with it,” we tell ourselves. Is this true for the believer? 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “What? Know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” These verses should be very motivating to a believer in Christ. Your body is home to the Holy Spirit, the same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead! Your body and actions gives the world around you a picture of Christ. Let‘s talk about some ways we can care for our “temple.” change. Do not obsess, but be mindful of your diet and exercise. Do you think about what you eat? Just because you are skinny does not automatically make you a healthy person. I personally am not the skinny one but rather the one fighting those few extra pounds. I have, in recent years, given myself permission to stop checking my weight on the scales and forget about that number! Rather, I try to look at other indicators to tell me if I am healthy. Are my clothes feeling tight? Maybe I need to eat real strict for two weeks and hit that refresh button. Are they getting loose? Good, now I can go buy new ones! Do my legs feel more “jiggly” lately? Maybe I need to start walking or running more. There are so many ways, other than the number on a scale, to tell you if you are healthy. Figure food out! If you are a girl, you more than likely will have to deal with food for the rest of your life in one way or another. Why not start to underHealth, our physical body, is an im- stand it and what works for you. Read portant subject. There are things we books, ask other people who seem to be can change and there are things we can- healthy how they do it, focus on foods not change. Focus on what you can like: protein, fruits, and vegetables.
