Page 6 October 2013 The Charbonneau Villager Charbonneau Tennis Club Charbonneau Tennis Club STeve HALL Sallie Cutler and Craig Koessler did a great job organizing the summer social and tennis exhibition, which had a record crowd. This year's added attraction was Kevin Young, of the Wilson Corporation, conducting a racquet demonstration. Kevin demonstrated the latest technology in racquet design and allowed 25 club members to try out new racquets. The tennis exhibition featured two matches involving the best tennis pros in the area. The first match was mixed doubles and featured Craig, Sanja Indic-Lemes, Anne Borus and Brian Joelson. The second match was men's singles with Craig, Brian Joelson, Travis Parrott and Mike Tammen. Brian was welcomed back by many Charbonneau friends. It was easy to see why Travis Parrott won the u.S. Open mixed doubles championship and why Anne Borus was once ranked in the top 40 in the world. Afterwards, Curry’s Landing restaurant provided deli sandwiches and club members brought side dishes. Pictures are on the club bulletin board. Next year, we expect to make the exhibition bigger, better and perhaps obtain corporate sponsorships. The recently completed annual Charbonneau Nothin but Doubles Club Tournament and summer barbeque was also a success. Glenn and Nancy Good always do a great job of preparing the draw, recruiting participants and ensuring the pairings are appropriate. Following are the results of the tournament: Mixed: Craig Mills and Roxanne Imbrie defeated Ken Croteau and Elaine Zeverberg in the finals 7-6, 6-4 and Peter and Emily Schulte defeated Fritz Hostetler and Caitlin Gay in the consolation bracket 6-4, 6-3. Brian Joelson, Sanja Indic-Lemes, Craig Koessler and Anne Borus take a moment for a photo shoot at the tennis exhibition. Womens combined 6.0 - 7.0: Terri Crowley and Joanne Smith were the winners of a round robin event. Men's 6.0: Ken Croteau and Don Paolo were the winners of a round robin event.
