The Charbonneau Villager CGC Report Charbonneau Golf Club President Jim Gibbons Happy 2014! Hopefully, you have warmed up after the cold snap of December. There are good sales on clothing and sweaters in the Golf Shop throughout the month, so stop in and select a smart new article for the remaining winter. You can also purchase a 2014 Charbonneau Annual Golf Pass. There is a discount available until December 31, 2013. Page 3 January 2014 As the Golf Club prepares for the upcoming golf season, the board of directors is actively planning ways to expand our operations while solidifying those activities that have been successful. The new restaurant is scheduled to open early this spring and that should offer ways to support our community, golf and related activities. One new offering will be weddings in 2014. The Golf Club board meetings during 2014 will now be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month. The January and February meetings will be in ā€œCā€ rec hall. Financially, the Golf Club met many of its financial targets this past summer. Overall, the golf operations experienced some unexpected costs with painting, dry rot repair, replacing the Pro Shop roof and having to use a larger amount of irrigation water due to the dry summer. That being said, the water company exceeded the budgeted income, while keeping expenses in line. Thus, the Golf Club Inc. came in about where anticipated. This is, of course, with four months left in the current fiscal year. Continued, see CGC Report, page 12 Remember, the Clubhouse will be closed January 14 - February 28 Scouting for Trees on January 4 Want to recycle your Christmas tree with the Scouts? Please set your tree on the curb by 8:30 am on Saturday, January 4, 2014. The Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scout units in the Wilsonville Area will be by to pick up your Christmas tree and collect your donation. Charbonneau residents may also drop off trees at the Wilsonville City Hall parking lot (behind Goodwill) from 9 am until 11:30 am on January 4. Here is an introduction to the Charbonneau Golf Club Board. These volunteers are a great asset to our community. Brian Horler was born in the small cathedral City of Wells, Somerset, England and immigrated to the U.S. in 1965. He married Virginia that year; and they now have a daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren living in West Linn. They have lived in Charbonneau for six years.
