WRESTLEMANIA XXX

WWE World Heavyweight Title

Match

Randy Orton Vs Batista Vs Daniel Bryan

Match Rating: *** ¾

As far as WreslteMania Main Events go, to me this felt slightly underwhelming heading into the show. We have got a WWE World Heavyweight Champion who was now considered an afterthought following the build up to the last PPV, and then we have Batista, somebody who walked out on WWE nearly 4 years ago just to re-appear and make it straight to the main event. Then we have Daniel Bryan, the clear favourite and somebody who everybody thinks WWE should have pulled the trigger on 6 months ago!

As far as triple threat matches go, it really did start off with a simple, yet unimaginative formula of 2 battling at one time while the third was thrown out to the floor. With Orton & Batitsa teasing conflict, the match only really kicked into life following the incredible, yet brutal looking RKO/Batista Powerbomb combination through the announcers table.

From here, the storytelling really kicked into overdrive. With medics rushing to Daniel Bryan’s aid to tease he was no longer involved into the match up, he was stretched away from ringside only to return by refusing to die, similar to the build-up of WCW’s Spring stampede 1999 Event. With the whole world now behind Daniel Bryan, Bryan counted ‘The Animal’ Batista and quickly locked in his famous ‘Yes Lock’ submission as the challenger had no other choice but to submit.

While the in-ring action was by no means a great, or even good spectacle, nobody does story-telling better than the magic that WWE can produce and as confetti fell from the sky, we were left with the images of a new face on top of the WWE.

Overall Show Rating: 9/10

Undoubtedly WreslteMania 30 will go down as not only one of the most memorable Wrestle Mania shows of all time, but as one of the most shocking shows in WWE History!

Not only did Daniel Bryan and his ‘Yes Movement’ finally dethrone ‘The Authority’ and capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, that amazingly played second fiddle to what was certainly the biggest shock in some time and that was Brock Lesnar

ending the streak, something that will never be replicated in WWE history ever again! As we look forward coming out of this show, with the successful WWE Network launching and Daniel Bryan now the face of the WWE, I can’t help but feel that with The Shield, Bray Wyatt and Antonio Cesaro, we are on the verge of a new era in WWE history.
