Arlington Wrestling Ready for a New Season

It’s been a busy and
productive spring and summer
for Arlington Wrestling. We sent
our largest team to the Freestyle
and
Greco
Roman
state
championships in May and
walked away with one state
champion and 10 overall state
placers. We also hosted our
largest youth wrestling camp to
date in June. And we have a well-
seasoned team focused on a local
4-peat of region Team and
Individual championships and
taking bigger strides at the state
level.
Freestyle and Greco-Roman
style
wrestling
are
the
international styles of wrestling
that you see during the summer
Olympics. It is the only style
available to young athletes after
college and although it is similar
to the American Folkstyle that
you see in youth, high school and
college; it offers (in most cases)
new technique that promotes
speed, agility and high level
moves. Those looking for greater
successes during our winter
season often participate in these
two styles to broaden their skill
set and it’s been said that summer
wrestling
breeds
winter
champions.
This June we hosted our
largest youth wrestling camp in
our short 9 year history. This was
our 8th camp focused on
providing value to all skill levels
whether you are a returning state

Wrestlers have the opportunity to
learn about the sport and compete
against other wrestlers of a
similar size and skill level.
Next season, the Tigers are
returning 2 TSSAA state placers;
2x state placer Reid Cannon and
Harrison Phillips along with a
host of returning wrestlers from
the youth and high school levels.
The Tigers are set to dominate
this region once again and
continue to make strides at the
state level.

sure we represent Arlington
Wrestling the way our fans have
become accustomed to.” said
