Shelby County home sales are sizzling this summer as total home sales continue to rise . The number of units sold in July was up 14 % with 1,808 sales recorded for the month compared to 1,584 last year . Average home sales prices fell slightly , by 4 %, due to an influx of home sales valued under $ 50,000 .
Total home sales volume was up 10 % with $ 313 million recorded compared to $ 284 million last July .
Through the first seven months of this year , the number of home sales recorded are up 9 %, average home sales prices are up 3 %, and total home sales revenue is up 13 % from the same period in 2016 .
Bank-owned property sales continue to decline , and were down 6 % from last July with 121 recorded for the month averaging $ 91,715 .
Investor purchases accounted for 19 % of all home sales in Shelby County for the month with an average sales price of $ 71,905 . 47 % of investor purchases were made by out-oftown buyers .
