Arlington & Lakeland’s Community Newspaper theview .com November 2018 LEAD Arlington Places Focus on Students in First Meeting Special to THE VIEW 38002 Three times a year, leaders from the business community, town of Arlington and Arlington Community Schools come together for LEAD Arlington. It’s a time to discuss the latest happenings in Arlington’s economic development and government, as well as in the four schools that make up ACS. And this year, there’s a new addition to the group: Arlington High students. Students from Arlington High’s Collegiate Academy now attend the LEAD Arlington sessions to network with local community leaders and learn about what it takes to work in their industries. “It’s a great chance for them to ask questions, get information about job qualifications and hopefully gauge their interests by learning from skilled professionals,” said ACS Director Photos Courtesy of ACS business leaders, ask probing questions and present themselves in a professional way. About 20 students, made up of 9th and 10th graders, were paired with different professionals at tables and participated in several activities, including a “get-to- know” your table activity and a STEM challenge.
