The Arlington Middle
School Boys and Girls

one, but two North

month. This was the first

the girls, while the boys
were repeat champs. For
the girls, Trenity Hill and
Tournament MVP Sarah
Grandberry were selected
to the All-District team.
At the County level,
the girls lost in the first
round of the regional
playoffs to a tough

show night on February 4 at Arlington High School
for the UCA Nationals
competition and was
awarded 3rd place, each
cheerleader received a
bronze medal. The Arlington Middle Competitive Cheer Team is comprised of 27 of AMS's
best athletes- all of
whom must also maintain
rigorous academic requirements (C), a majority are enrolled in enriched/honors courses.
These young ladies are visible all over
campus because they are
also very active in the
extra curricular activities
at AMS. They also volun-
teered for the Spirit of
Giving Christmas Packing Party where the
cheerleaders gave of their
time and energy to packing bags of gifts that went
to deserving Shelby
County elementary students.
AMS administration,
Miss Brown and Coach
Wilkinson are concerned for the total development of the young
ladies who always do
their best to represent
AMS Bobcat Competitive Cheer Squad.

National
Dance
Team Championship in
Orlando, Florida
Arlington Middle
School Pom competed in
the National Dance Team
Championship in Disney
World February 1-2. The
squad truly showed what
a talented dance team they
have become. The level
of competition that the
girls competed against
was unbelievable, and our
girls stacked up side by
side with the top teams in
the nation.
The girls had many
accomplishments this
weekend includi ng
ranking higher than all of
our local rivals in the
Semi-Final competitions
on Saturday. AMS

was named as a National
Finalist in both the hip
hop and pom categories,
something only the top
40% of teams were able
to do. The 5th place
finish in hip hop and 6th
place finish in pom are
b o t h
h u g e
accomplishments,
especially in a pom
division where the point
difference between 6th
place and 2nd place was
only 1.7 points.
Congratulations to the
AMS Pom Squad on a
great season.
