Arkansas Author David Sargent (below) entertained K-2 graders and students were able to prepurchase his books and get signed copies. First Grade Delivers “Pies for Police” First graders delivered "Pies for Police" in Arlington on Tuesday, April 30th. All DES students have enjoyed participating in service projects this year Twelve acts competed in the Donelson Variety Show Tuesday, May 20, 2014. Students competed in the K-2 grade age division and 3rd-5th grade age division. First, second, and third place winners were chosen in each division. Scrabble Scrimmage Twenty-four Fifth graders participated in Donelson Elementary's annual Scrabble Scrimmage. The Scrabble Club celebrated the end of a successful year with the scrimmage, pizza, soda, and dessert. Prizes were given to students at the first and second place tables. Karlie and Paige came in first place with 372 points. Karlie stated, “We made the word winners on the first turn, and "winners" is a 7 letter word which is a BINGO. We made 72 points with that one word which bumped us to the winner's table"“ Emily and Dara (pictured below, left) came in second place with 263 points; Blake and Landon came in third place with 220 points. Donelson Author visits Third-fifth graders enjoyed a special visit by non-fiction author Heather Montgomery (below). She shared artifacts, a powerpoint presentation, and encouraged the students to Mother's Day Service Project Mrs. Weaks' Wiggle Worms made Mother's Day cards for the patients who are moms at Methodist Olive Branch Hospital to be delivered on Mother's Day with their meals. DES Preschool Service Project The DES preschool classes ( right) enjoyed their service project to the Arlington Fire Department.
