Winners will advance to the Shelby County Schools Science Fair representing DES. 5th Grade Winners (above): 1st Place:Mica Primeaux and Dylan Roberts Second Place:John D'Orso Third Place:Elizabeth McDaniel Honorable Mention: Abby Holley Sydney Weber Blake Ahlbrandt Rachel Kerns and Emily George On the evening of January 16, Donelson ES welcomed students and parents back to school for a night of reading and math and fun. Math and Literacy Family Night is an evening of fun for the entire family when everyone gets to experience math and literacy activities together. DES parents and children got an opportunity to see how activities can be both fun and educational, while parents gained insight into the s c h o o l ’ s mathematics and language arts curriculums for all grade levels. Throughout the evening, DES teachers presented sessions and activities, as well as providing make-andtake activities/games for use at home. In keeping with the theme— “ S h a p i n g Superheroes for Success!”—students (and teachers) were encouraged to wear a favorite superhero shirt that day to help share in the fun. Students earning the highest level of points received a gift card as well as prizes. Below: Mrs. Todd's 4th graders picking their prizes. Donelson Elementary students who did not miss any days or have any check-ins or check-outs in the 2nd 9 week period got to participate in HAT Day on Wednesday, January 15th.
