38002.com theview theview Page 2 Local Scouts Give Back to Community Arlington/Lakeland Girl Scout Troops 13097, 10338, and 10343 recently planted trees, repaired and replaced exercise stations at HughesCollege Hill Park in Arlington. The Junior-level scouts were working on their Bronze Award which is the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can achieve. “The Girl Scout Troops were amazing,” said Town of Arlington Parks Director Kevin Carter. “The girls worked alongside the adults and did an excellent job in aspects that were new to them. The Town of Ar lingto n P ar ks and Recreation Department is greatly appreciative of our young community and their willingness to serve in projects such as these. It is events like this that makes Arlington such a great place to live and visit.” December 2014 happenings Winter Fest 2014 Tuesday, December 2 starting at 6:30 p.m. at Lakeland Elementary, 10050 Oak Seed Lane. Murder Mystery Scholarship Spaghetti Dinner Thursday, December 4 at 6:00 pm, Bolton High School. Silent Auction, Dinner, and a Show (food provided by The Olive Garden). All proceeds go to the scholarship fund for Bolton Theatre students. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or reserved in advance by calling 901-873-8150 ext. 242. Rachel H. K. Burrow Museum The Arlington Chapter of the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities has decorated the exteriors of their historic sites in Historic Depot Square for the holiday season. The wreaths hung at the Harrell Farm Log Cabin and the outhouse were made with milo and cotton harvested from their Agricultural Exhibit at the Blacksmith Shop. On Dec. 6, the Rachel H. K. Burrow Museum and the Blacksmith Shop will be open from 10am4pm. Bill Perry will dem- onstrate blacksmithing that day. The Museum will feature a special Christmas exhibit of “Family Christmas Trees” and, in the vault, “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” The special Christmas exhibit in the Museum will be open to the public again on Dec. 20, 10am4pm. Arlington Christmas Parade Saturday, December 6th (rain/ice date: Sunday, Dec. 7th) at 4:00 pm. This year’s theme is “Christmas Cards On Parade.” Entry forms to participate in the parade are due by November 26th.
