Arlington Elementary
Second grade has been
busy learning about the life
cycle of chickens in the
most exciting way (above)!
Students started out by
putting 29 chicken eggs in
an
incubator.
They
watched them carefully to
make sure their conditions
were just right by
monitoring the temperature
and candling the eggs
every 7 days. Much to their
delight, 21 days later, the
eggs began to hatch! In the
children’s opinion, they
were the cutest little chicks
ever! Three days after
hatching, the class returned
the chicks to the farm.
Fifth grade students at
Arlington
Elementary
School created hamster
mansions with limited
supplies (below). Students
measured and created their
mansions within a thirty-
minute time frame. The
math target was increasing
the volume of the mansion
with limited supplies. The
kids had to measure and
construct
the
largest
mansion in 20 minutes.
for the day, and had some
intense surgery themed
music playing to get them
engaged.
Students from each 4th
grade class had the
opportunity to serve by
reading to kids at a local
daycare (below). The kids
loved being read to, and
the students did a great job
giving back to their
community.
Donelson Elementary
Mrs. Nelson’s 2nd

“Contractionologists” as
they performed surgery on
words to make them
contractions
(above,

When students entered
the operating room in the
morning,
they
were
granted the title of Doctor
Lakeland Elementary
Creativity abounded at
Lakeland Elementary as
students throughout the
school thought “outside
the box” during recent
classroom projects.
At top, students in Mrs.
Harrison’s class took a
sweet approach to math,
using jelly beans to create
line plots.
Above center, students
in Club Invention created 3
-dimensional zoo habitats
for endangered animals.
