38002.com theview theview April 2014 Lakeland Native Brandon Holmes Part of Disney’s Oscar-Winning FROZEN Special to THE VIEW 38002 Oscar weekend was big for Lakeland native Disney p r o d u c t i o n c o o rd i n a tor Brandon Holmes. He was part of a team of fellow coworkers & film makers that won an Academy Award for the beloved animated feature, Frozen. Holmes graduated from Briarcrest Christian School in 2004 and BCS Art teacher, Jenna Fergus talked with his family immediately after he won the Oscar. Holmes’s mom told Fergus that during his early years at Briarcrest, he spent countless hours honing his art gift which produced a work ethic that has allowed him to shoot for the stars and strive for excellence in his chosen career in movie making. A Taste of Arlington A Taste of Arlington will be held on Sunday, April 13 at Arlington High School. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-12. A Taste of Arlington is organized by the Arlington Chamber of Commerce and title sponsor First Citizens National Bank. A complete list of participating restaurants may be found on page . 13. For 2014, A Taste of Arlington has expanded to include samplings from vendors located outside of Arlington, as well as some new faces from Arlington and Lakeland. One of the newest will be Plumpy’s BBQ, scheduled to open April 8 in the site of the former Arlington BBQ at 11875 Hwy. 70. Plumpy’s is owner Courtney Jones’s first venture into the restaurant business. Jones plans to keep many favorites (including breakfast) from Arlington BBQ menu and has the same cooks on staff. A Silent Auction benefitting the Arlington Chapter of the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities will also be held at the event.
