The View 38002 April 2012

Saturday, April 28 downtown Arlington will transform. Vendors will come from as far away as Jackson, local churches will inflate moon bounces, local businesses will gear up for the rush and Main Street Arlington, the organization coordinating this year’s event, will welcome 1000s of people to historic downtown Arlington. Arlington in April is Arlington’s largest community event. Always scheduled for the last Saturday in April, the festival has something for everyone. Whether you are looking for something to do with the kids or you need a break from your everyday routine. Stroll through the variety of vendors displaying, and selling, their unique hand crafted creations. Need a break from the walking? Have a seat near our stage area and enjoy performances by local musicians. Once you’ve enjoyed a song or two, head over to the food vendor area and grab a bite to eat. Walk a little further and visit the library’s book sale. Don’t worry about traffic. Walker Street will be closed from Chester to Greenlee, Quintard is closed from Walker to the railroad tracks and Chester is closed heading into the Depot Square. So, there will be plenty of room to spread out and walk from destination to destination. Vendors will be ready to go at 10:00 am and will begin packing up at 4:00 pm. Sometimes, when the weather is uncooperative, Arlington in April has to take place on Sunday. We’ll all just hope for good weather. The Friday before Arlington in April, the Senior Citizen’s Center holds its annual Pie and Cake Baking competition. Blue ribbons are awarded on Saturday, during Arlington in April.
