I Wish
By Savanna J.
I wished the world be blind
to rid us of judgement due to
race, size, looks.
But with losing sight,
we'd lose the colors we find
in nature, art, song.
I wished the world be deaf
to rid us of the hateful words
we are called by those who are
bullies, afraid, angry, hurt.
But with losing sound,
we'd lose the empowering words
in speeches, stories, poetry.
I wished the world be numb
to rid us of pain in
war, injury, sickness.
But with losing touch
we'd lose the love we find
in an embrace, a sweet caress, a kiss.
So instead, I wish the world be kind
so all we have will remain intact.
The bad things will be removed,
yet so much more will be added.
