The Perfectionist
By Ryann N.
The perfectionist that runs your life surely means no harm
Because why else would he push you to do your best
When you gave up on yourself long ago.
He never lets you fail.
He pushes you to your limit.
He constantly reminds you to succeed.
But he barges into your brain
Like two cars crash into each other.
There is no mistaking the pain he will bring,
When he has arrived.
You find yourself staring blankly into space,
Wondering, creating, thinking.
But you barely finish the thought,
Before he slams the idea down.
So you begin again.
Wondering, creating, thinking.
And so the endless cycle continues.
Head pounding
Heart racing
Wanting to be better
Trying to please the perfectionist that screams for you to succeed
Until you cannot bear it anymore.
