As the oldest surviving culture in the world, China is an interesting place to travel to, to say in the least. There are numerous sights to visit. One of the most popular destinations is the current capital, Beijing. As the capital of both the Ming and Manchu dynasties, Beijing boasts many ancient buildings and structures. Some of these include the Forbidden Palace (the world’s largest palace), Beihai Park, the Temple of Heaven, and the Badaling section of the Great Wall of China. Sadly, many historical buildings were destroyed in the 1800’s during the Opium Wars.
Another interesting feature in China is the great biodiversity. With over 34,687 species of vascular plants and animals, it is the 3rd most biologically diverse country in the world, after Brazil and Columbia. China is an immensely interesting country to visit. The points of interest shared above are merely the tip of the iceberg. There are many more fabulous points of interest to explore. If visiting China is not on your bucket list, it should be!
