The anticipation almost killed me as I waited to see the sequel to The Hunger Games. The first movie in the epic series of four films broke box office records, and the second movie was no letdown. You could have read the book a million times and the movie would still have been different enough to entertain you. The actors give the story more depth than descriptions in a book can, so it is a whole new experience.

Catching Fire continues the story of Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark after they win the 74th annual Hunger Games. It follows them through their victory tour through the twelve districts and into life back home as a rebellion against the Capitol is sparked from Katniss’s actions in the Hunger Games. Katniss and Peeta are also chosen to take part in the 75th Hunger Games, so they reenter the arena and struggle to stay alive for the second time. I was even more enthralled by the movie then I was by the book, which shocked me because the book was so amazing that I was not sure how the movie could be better.

One thing I noticed as I watched the movie was how Effie Trinket, escort for District 12 tributes in the Hunger Games, was made more human in the movie than in the books. The audience really sees her attachment to Katniss and Peeta as they prepare for

the Games. At one point Effie nearly cries as she sees them for the last time before they enter the arena. I personally liked how Effie was shown to have more emotion than she had in the first movie because it made her more relatable.

This film deserves five stars because it has talented actors, a brilliant plot, and it is a beautiful mix of action and romance, so it can entertain both genders of all ages. This movie did not cease to disappoint me, and it will not disappoint you.
