The Warmth of Winter
The brightness of dusk wares away to a dull red
The newborn leaves soon shrivel to a wrinkled brown
As they lay lifeless on the ground
Mornings are quiet
While the sweet ballads of birds soon comes to a hush.
The skitter of the squirrels is almost nonexistent
The day lights up in beauty.
There is a tranquil sight of silent snowflakes brushing the grass
A light blanket of frost at dusk,
A twinkle of holiday lights,
The soft glow of hot embers,
And a sweet combination of chimney smoke and fresh air.
There is a hum of families laughing breaking through the ice of the winter
Creating warmth until Earth’s rebirth

Sweater Weather
Vibrant or dull
Patterned or plain
Neither one is the same
Thick or thin
Long or small
They all share a common goal
Made of wool
Or either from string,
They keep you warm until Spring
