In its first year, the project raised $483,446. The project has continued annually ever since, and has raised $869,291. The money is raised through pledges and donations, including one cent for each comment on each P4A video during the event. A live stream hosted by John, Hank, and other YouTubers, airs through the duration of the project.

John Green is a very talented and renowned author, and all of his works have been recommended countless times to teen readers. He is intelligent, witty, funny, and just overall an amazing person and role model. Through his books and projects, John promotes intellectualism among teenagers. His books deserve to be read by teens all around the world, and his videos and movie deserve to be enjoyed by people of all ages.
