Remembering Beauty
With March comes new hope and life reborn,
A picturesque vision of pastel breezes,
leaves wet with morning’s fresh dew.
What is now a shred of a memory will soon transform into reality.
In three months the venom will be drawn
Through the vernal equinox’s tender touch.
Delicate fingers will sooth the wounds that December bequeathed
And replenish innocence that earth once possessed.
-HELEN C.
Soft earth dripping with rainbow moisture,
Now a crystalline spectacle.
Poison deposited by winter covers the land,
Blanketing shriveled buds and dull leaves.
It was stunning once, a haven of petals and peace,
But then the soil was painted with frost,
And the clouds’ warm breath was stolen,
Replaced by the bitter howl of winds.
