Members of Bellarmine community receive SCU honorary doctorates
Three members of the Bellarmine College Preparatory community received honorary doctorates from Santa Clara University during the university’s commencement ceremonies in June. Father Robert Mathewson, SJ, received an honorary doctorate of education in recognition for his work in revolutionizing Jesuit high school education. In part, the degree noted the “key innovations” Father Mathewson implemented in Jesuit high schools, including his work in establishing counseling departments and expanding ?nancial aid endowments to make Jesuit secondary education more affordable and accessible.
