The 4th graders made signs advertising the drive, organized and performed skits reminding people to bring in canned food, and collected the canned food curbside at drop-off before school. In one skit, they asked the student body, ‘How do you think Jesus would feel about you helping the hungry?’ The 4th graders will take a field trip to Sacred Heart Community Service in San Jose to deliver the canned food, and also spend time working in the clothes closet and food pantry. Service to others is an integral part of the St. Nicholas experience: each grade organizes and runs a drive and works at Sacred Heart each year. Sacred Heart’s vision is a community united to ensure that every child and adult is free from poverty. www.dsj.org
