Makley also announced that the
school’s board of directors has commenced a nationwide search for his

and vice president before being named
president in 1997.
In an email to the school community,
Makley said, “my years at Saint Francis
have been filled with an array of experiences that have helped me recognize
the importance of Catholic, Holy Cross
education. I have long been inspired by
the Brothers of Holy Cross who opened
this school in 1955...I will never forget
the many parents, administrators and
educators who have positively impacted
my life as well as my family’s. I remain
proud of our students’ achievements,
and I admire our graduates who live
value-filled lives.”
“The Saint Francis community has
been blessed to have had a leader of
Kevin’s caliber for the past 17 years. His
vision for the school has fostered an environment where students are motivated

and inspired by dedicated educators,”
said Steve Richards. “Kevin’s leadership
has secured Saint Francis’ place as one of
the top college preparatory high schools

school to be successful for generations
to come. On behalf of the entire board of
directors, I want to wish Kevin and Joan
the very best in this exciting new chapter
of their lives.”
