tvc.dsj.org | November 19, 2019 COMMUNITY 5 2019 Annual Diocesan Appeal By Sue Pershon, ADA Manager As the Annual Diocesan Appeal (ADA) 2019 winds down, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all who have shown their support throughout the year. Each year, the ADA raises funds to run Ministries and support for our parishes and schools. ADA 2019 is another suc- cessful campaign thanks to YOU. Our Parishioners. Our Volunteers. Our Pastors, Parochial Vicars and Parish Staff Teams. Our Bishop, Min- istry Leaders and Chancery Team. Together we make up the Diocese of San José. Together we work Hand In Hand In Ministry. Together we have raised over $9.3 Million on our $6.6 Million Goal. Wow! Thank you! Beyond the Min- istries and Programs of the Diocese these funds go to fund our parishes directly. All money that is raised over a parish goal is rebated back for in- parish use. Many of our parishes take this opportunity to raise significant funds for improvements to their wor- ship space or grounds, fund ministry or balance the budget. Let’s look at the Projected Rebates and some of these success stories (see the chart above). Father Phong Nguyen at Church of the Resurrection saw the opportunity to raise the necessary funds needed to resurface the church parking lot. The community came together to show their support and pledged 150% of their goal, for the project. The parish now has a safe parking lot. Congratu- lations, Father Phong! This community came together to show their support and the result was amazing – 210% of goal! The parish broke ground on the canopy construction in June. Con- gratulations, Father Francisco! Father John Poncini at Saint Nicho- las and Saint Williams Parish in Los Altos worked with Saint Nicholas School Principal Jan Popolizio to iden- tify the need to raise critical funds for future capital long term projects, such as renovating the 60-year-old bathrooms at the school. This com- munity came together to pledge 204% of the parish goal! Congratulations, Father John! These are just a few of the success stories of ADA 2019 – Hand In Hand In Ministry. The Office of Steward- ship and Development recently con- ducted a training session for pastors and parish leadership to help them identify ways to fund the needs of the parish using the ADA rebates. More than 50 participants came together to hear guest speakers from the Diocese of San Bernardino share the great works their parishes have done to raise funds for their parishes and mis- sions. Attendees went back to their parishes with many new resources and inspiration to help their parish. It is not too late for you to support your parish for ADA 2019. Gifts can be made at DSJ.org/ADA. Thank you for your support of your parish and the Diocese. We hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with the love of family and friends. God bless you all.
