Interfaith Prayer Service Held
On April 20 , the Department for Evangelization , through the Office of Restorative Justice , held an interfaith prayer service for healing , non-violence , and peace . This experience of prayer was held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in San Jose . Various speakers from different faith traditions were present and participated : Muslim , Hindu , Unitarian , Jain , and Catholic . The music was provided by the choir from Our Lady of Guadalupe .

Birthright of San Jose : 45 Years Of Service
On July 2 , 1972 , thanks to the efforts of three very compassionate local people , Dr . Bill O ’ Connnell , Kathy Hayes and Betty Brigante , Birthright of San Jose opened its doors as a chapter of Birthright International , the first emergency pregnancy service of its kind . The International group was founded in 1968 in Canada by a mother of seven , Louise Summerhill , who was an ordinary housewife who did something extraordinary for God . Her idea of providing a loving alternative to abortion caught fire in the United States and 3 chapters opened in 1972 , in San Jose , Livermore and Chico all of which are still in operation . Since that day , the San Jose chapter has offered thousands of women free , confidential and loving support allowing many to choose life .
Birthright is an all volunteer organization and is funded entirely by private donations and fundraisers . The 11 th annual benefit theater performance presented by South Bay Musical Theater will be held on May 25 at the Saratoga Civic Theater . The event begins at 6:15 p . m . with a reception accompanied by hors d ’ ouevres . Tickets are $ 45 . To add to the fun , there will be a silent auction and beautiful baskets raffled .
