tvc.dsj.org | May 7, 2019 COMMUNITY 19 Catholic Charities Invitational Celebrates 35 Years with New Golf Tournament Features The Catholic Charities Invitational 35th Annual Golf Tournament will be held on June 24 at Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose. The tour- nament, chaired by Mike Blach, has a new format this year as the event celebrates a special milestone in the tournament’s history. “We are making some significant enhancements to the day to create an even more memorable and enjoyable experience for golfers,” according to Mike, who is a parishioner at Saint Christopher’s and a past President of the Catholic Charities Board of Directors. “Our tournament will offer a day of fun with exceptional, upscale golfing at Silver Creek Valley Country Club.” The day will include lunch, cocktail reception, dinner, and shopping spree at the mobile pro shop. An opportu- nity drawing will be held for the Lexus Champions For Charity Golf Tourna- ment at Pebble Beach. Tickets sales are open to all and two lucky winners will play Pebble Beach, Spyglass and Spanish Bay, with lodging at the Inn at Spanish Bay for four nights. “On behalf of the tens of thousands of clients we serve in our County, please accept our thanks for your continued and faithful support and patronage of this important event for Catholic Charities,” Mike said. Detention Ministry Training Session The next training session for Deten- tion Ministry in the Santa Clara County Correctional Facilities will be held on May 18 from 9-11 a.m. at the Chancery 1150 North First Street, San Jose. This training will be primarily for brand new volunteers. You are needed to direct prayer services and bible studies and possi- bly to accompany individual inmates through the RCIA process.
